Taekwondo Gear: Training Essentials for Beginners

Taekwondo is the most famous martial art. Like every sport, Taekwondo has a unique set of uniforms and gear. Football, for instance, has that uniquely-shaped helmet and the padding along the shoulders of the uniform. Hockey has its own unique set of helmets and paddings, and so on. Taekwondo also has a special uniform and a fantastic gear set to go along with it in competitive settings.

Here is the list Gear list of Taekwondo:

  • Chest Protector
  • Foot protector
  • Forearm guard
  • Gorin guard
  • Handguard
  • Had wraps
  • Headgear
  • Heavy bag
  • Kicking paddle
  • Kicking shields
  • Mat
  • Mouthguard
  • Shoes

Chest Protector

During the fight in Taekwondo, your chest protection is essential. It must include shoulder padding. Generally, chest protectors are secured with either ties or Velcro in the back. This allows them to be adjusted for size. You want the protector to fit securely without slipping.

Foot protector

In Taekwondo, kicking is a great way to score points on your opponent because of all the momentum that is drawn from the hips. However, all that force makes your feet susceptible to injury, so foot protectors help prevent these injuries during competition and training.

Forearm guard

Vambraces or forearm guards are tubular or gutter defenses for the forearm worn as part of a plate armor suit that was often connected to gauntlets. They cover the lower, outside portion of the forearm. This prevents bruising or, worse, injury when blocking. Make sure the pads fit securely and are the proper length. They should not touch either the wrist or the elbow.

Gorin Guard

The molded groin guard is easy to wear and can be easily removed by releasing the Velcro tab. Protects the groin while also tucking under for protection and covering the lower abdomen. Continuous kicking can cause your shins to bruise up and even fracture, so investing in shin guards is vital to prevent that.

Handguard

In martial arts, your hands are one of your primary weapons, and handguards help to prevent injury to your fists. In Taekwondo, punches can be delivered to your opponent's body and head to score points.

Had wraps

It's not usual practice to throw on boxing gloves without wraps for at least part of your training. But every time you get in the ring to box or go to the gym to train, you have to wrap your hands to protect them, and if you're hitting hard, it's best to wrap your hands during practice sessions, too. It can improve a fighter's punching ability, but the amount of gauze and tape the trainer uses in the hand wrap or the way he goes about wrapping does not make a fighter punch harder.

Head Gear

Taekwondo headgear protects against cuts, scrapes, and swelling during training or sparring. (While it can cushion some of the blow from any strikes you receive to the head, it is important to note that no headgear can guarantee protection against concussions and other head trauma.)

Heavy Bag

It's a wide variety of training bags used in boxing and martial arts training. Besides developing powerful punching and striking techniques, the punching bag reinforces and conditions your bones and tendons to withstand the force of impact when you hit a hard target.

Kicking paddle

Kicking paddles are padded training tools used primarily as a practice target for a martial artist's kicks. They are also used to help martial artists practice avoiding being hit by a punch or kick. This equipment helps to develop more potent kick combinations and defense moves. Our kicking pads for martial arts are made of strong PU leather to ensure durability.

Kicking shields

Kicking shields are thickly padded training tools used primarily as a target for a martial artist's kicks. A kicking paddle is often used for kicking accuracy, but kicking shields are usually used to practice kicking power. Kick shields are perfect for practicing heavy kicks and are especially handy when training your low kicks. Thai pads are great for when you're practicing mid-range roundhouse kicks and head kicks but come up lacking when it comes to leg kicks.

Mat

It helps improve kick boxing techniques, develop powerful punches and kicks against a real and moving target. On the other hand, kick pads protect sparring partners or trainers from potential injuries. This foam delivers the combination of stability and shock absorption needed to help keep athletes safe during falls and tumbles while still giving athletes the traction and firmness they need to train while standing up.

Mouthguard

A mouth guard will cushion and distribute the force of any blows or shocks to the face that you might take during training, reducing the impact to your jaw. This will help protect you against trauma to the area, like fractures and jaw displacement.

Shoes

Taekwondo shoes are often used for sparring and training purposes, especially when practicing on hard surfaces rather than mats if you're looking for taekwondo shoes to protect your feet during training.

Hopefully, this article will help you a lot to get your taekwondo gears.
